Can going green be affordable? With the Green Zebra guide, the answer is... absolutely.
A coupon book featuring sustainable businesses throughout Greater Van couver, Green Zebra is a great way to get some ideas for ecofriendly living while saving money.
With freebies ranging from a yoga class to an artisan chocolate bar, and two-for-one deals at popular restaurants and theatres, the coupons offer something for everyone.
Dream Designs, a boutique for sustainable décor and apparel, has seen an overwhelming response to the Green Zebra guide.
“It’s a great resource for our customers. The books have been flying off the shelves,” said Kelly Valente, manager of the Commercial Drive location. “Most of the people coming in are already interested in sustainable products. They’re thrilled to find out they can recoup the cost of the book with their first purchase here and then go and discover other sustainable businesses.”
The book, printed locally on recycled paper, promotes sustainability on all fronts environmental, social and economic.
“In this economic climate, people are increasingly eager to find ways to shop smart,” said Rebecca Fry, Green Zebra’s business development manager. “And with the exposure our guide offers, Green Zebra is helping out local businesses, too.”
Priced at $30, the book pays for itself after just one or two coupons. Net proceeds support TB Vets Charitable Foundation. Since 1946, TB Vets has provided employment to people with disabilities and funded research, education, and hospital equipment to fight respiratory illness in B.C.
Look for Green Zebra at numerous local events this spring such as Projecting Change Film Festival, Strathcona BIA’s Sustainability 2.0, and EP!C.
